Overview

Rouzanna Berberian’s exhibition TRACE delves into the abstract shapes and patterns found in Armenian rugs & their visual relationship to flexible circuit board designs portrayed as geometric abstractions. Drawing inspiration from the way circuit boards store and transmit data, Berberian aims to uncover valuable information by examining Armenian rug patterns and symbols.

She firmly believes these meticulously crafted artworks are imbued with encoded messages, passed down through generations by our female ancestors.

By juxtaposing these abstract patterns found in rugs & flexible circuit board designs Berberian aims to recognize them as conduits of information.

This fusion of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology allows us to encode the hidden messages woven into these rugs, which in turn leads to a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between tradition and innovation, memory and data.
